RVA Counseling is seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner- PMHNP- Department Director to join our dynamic team. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at RVA Counseling, you will provide Psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults in our modern and private practice outpatient setting. Requirements:

​

  • Licensed in Virginia to practice and prescribe independently as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia

  • Hold current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with mental health, emotional, and/or behavioral disorders, including co-occurring disorders

  • Have a Master’s degree or higher from a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program

  • Hold a prescriptive authority for Nurse Practitioner in Virginia

  • Have working knowledge of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/planning

  • Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, staff and other healthcare professionals

  • Have the ability to document findings accurately, thoroughly, and promptly; possess the ability to recognize legal limits of practice

  • Demonstrate experience obtaining and interpreting clinical data and draw satisfactory conclusions

  • Be capable of assessing emergencies and taking appropriate actions

  • Lead the establishment of this new branch of RVA Counseling

  • Must be Racially/Culturally competent/sensitive and LGBTQ-affirming

 

Experience:

​

  • Previous experience in psychiatric nursing, 5+ years

  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and psychotropic medications

  • Familiarity with therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)

  • Ability to assess and manage crisis situations effectively

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary Structure:

​

  • W2 Employee

  • Offering a generous 70/30 split distribution of individual practitioner revenue

  • Quarterly distributed 3% total department revenue generated

 

Additional Supports:

​

PMHNP will have administrative support (front desk staff, credentialing support, billing, access to printer/fax/voicemail etc.) provided. We utilize TherapyNotes/E-prescribe for electronic medical records, patient billing, e-prescribing, and patient portal. Additionally, we utilize a HIPAA-compliant version of Gmail for 24/7 access to colleagues. Vacation coverage option has been established.
